Visit: Montpellier’s flower markets

With so much sunshine there’s plenty of colourful plants that grow  beautifully in the south of France and one of the best places to see them all on display is at a marché aux fleurs.

There’s a good one in Montpellier every Tuesday. In the Mosson suburb, not too far from the old town, stalls are laid out for the whole day selling bright flowers, young saplings and vegetable plants, as well as some seeds, produce and planters. Even if you’re not buying it’s pleasant to walk around and see what’s in flower.

Food stall flower marketLook out for the food vans behind the stalls where you can sit and have a mint tea, or a spicy kebab.

Mosson Marché aux fleurs is on every Tuesday from 7am-7pm at Espace Mosson. Take tram 1 to Mosson (end of the line). Turn left along the platform, right at the post office, walk past the kebab café to the road on your left. Cross at the zebra crossing and walk through the tree-lined walkway with the boulodrome on your right till you get to the market area.If you’re driving there’s a car park right next to the market.
